Hemerodromiinae

Pupae

Pupae of only a few Hemerodromiinae have been described. A unique feature of the pupae of this group are filaments that extend from the tracheal system.
A dorsal view of the pupal skin of a Hemerodromia empiformes female. The tracheal filaments are relatively stout compared to the pupae of Neoplasta.
A lateral view of the pupal skin of Neoplasta parahebes. In this specimen, the posterior tracheal filaments are confined by the larval exuvia that was not completely shed.
A dorsal view of a pupa of Neoplasta scapularis. Eyes of adult fly are seen developing as the dark area on the left.
