Tolypocladium cylindrosporum-like spores from Simulium piperi

Larvae of both Simulium piperi and Simulium arcticum have been observed with hyphal bodies in their hemocoele. These hypal bodies are similar to those of Tolypocladium cylindrosporum as reported infecting Aedes sierrensis by Samson and Soares (1984). J. Invert. Pathol 43: 133-139.

Smear of hemolymph from Simulium piperi.
